Spa weekends without the noise

Thermal rooms, outdoor swimming and gardens that ask you to slow down.

A spa weekend can easily tip into programme anxiety: slots, circuits, treatments timed to the minute. The more interesting version is spatial. You move from water to garden to conservatory because the architecture invites it.

Willowmere is built around that idea. The thermal rooms matter, but so do the gravel paths and the riverside terraces. Rest becomes a sequence of places rather than a checklist of appointments.

Elsewhere on the shortlist, wellness is quieter still — Trehaven’s outdoor showers after cliff walks, Dunraven’s wood-fired sauna, Hatherleigh’s yew-sheltered pool. Different scales, same principle: recovery should feel like weather and place, not retail.
